CAR CLEANING CLOTHS

Cleaning the exterior and interior of your car, requires the correct cleaning materials to avoid unwanted scratches or damage to the vehicle surface. Professional auto detailers use a variety of car cleaner cloths, in conjunction with car care products such as wax, glass cleaners, chemicals, solvents, and water, for each stage of the car cleaning process to achieve a superior, shiny finish. Presented below are some car cleaning tips and suggestions of superior car cleaning cloths.

Beginning with the vehicle exterior, once the car is cooled down, detailing begins with high pressure spraying of water to clear the car surface of grime and dirt. Ideally such a wash is conducted at least once a week, depending on use and exposure to the elements. Next, using a bucket of soapy water or water mixed with car wash shampoo, and a super thick absorbent cloth, such as the SUPERMAX chamois shammy, and/or wash mitts, thoroughly wipe down the outside of the car, starting from the top and working down. These thick, soft cloths are manufactured to be highly absorbent car washing cloths that are non-abrasive and will not scratch the paintwork. Once soaked, rinse the car removing the dirt and soap from the surface, and then use a blower, wash mitts or a dry thick pile MICROFIBRE CLOTH to dry the outside of the vehicle. Alternatively, MAXI WIPES are soft, highly absorbent, scratch-resistant cloths that will soak up any excess water and pick up remaining dust particles to ensure a clean surface before applying wax to the exterior of the vehicle. Car polishing requires a solvent resistant material, such as the INDUSTRO WIPES, which are of reasonable size (40cm x 55cm), and can also be used separately with solvents to clean windshields and wipe down car windows without leaving watermarks or steaks on the glass.

With the top side of the car polished, detailing of the bottom half, including the rims and tyres, can begin. To remove muck and grime from splash guards, metal hub caps and wheels, a tougher wipe may be called for, such as the SOLVENT RESISTANT WIPES, which have an abrasive texture of one side and a smooth lint free texture on the other side. As the name suggests, these wipes can be used with solvents such as car cleaning chemicals and degreasers. If cleaning upder the hood, where there may be grease and oil to wipe down and clean up, we recommend the INDUSTRIAL RHINO WIPES, thick, white, oil absorbent automotive wipers suited to such tasks. Contained in a pop up box, these pull out wipes are portable and convenient in a garage or workshop for easy disposable wiping tasks. They also come as a JUMBO RHINO ROLL, placed on a floor dispenser, from which the 475 perforated sheets are town off as required, or in a smaller hand sized roll, WHITE RHINO ROLL.

For the interior car valeting, once the vehicle has been vacuumed, the MICROMAX is a soft polishing cloth, that can be used to wipe down the dashboard, clean the glovebox, and also works well with window and mirror polishing, given is soft lint free fabric. To clean and wipe down the leather seats and finishings, we would recommend using a damp OMNIWIPE, which has the apertures to pick up dirt particles, and is made from very high levels of viscose, giving it superior absorbency.

TIDDOX also supplies a range of disposable paper wipes used in car maintenance tasks. These include the RAG ON A ROLL, or “ROAR”, made up of 200 4-ply scrim webbing reinforced tough paper perforated sheets on a 70m roll, as well as the 1000 sheet 3-ply JUMBO PAPER TOWEL ROLL, another economical wiping option for the garage.
