Printing

A challenge of every printing environment is to keep it free of lint, and to keep on top of any spills or mess of inks, solvents, chemicals, oils, grease and lubricants. To meet these challenges printers rely on TIDDOX's printing wipes, which comprise a broad range of lint-free wipes, absorbent cloths, rags and foam swabs suited to various day-to-day printing applications and tasks.

TIDDOX has about a dozen different types of printing wipes to keep the printers going, reducing downtime through providing lint-free wipes to maintain printer equipment and encouraging regular print head cleaning. Such maintenance of print heads, nozzles, imaging cylinders, plates and scanner drums will not only minimise disruptions and improve the quality of the prints, it will also extend the life of the equipment and parts.

MEDIUM DUTY WIPES

HEAVY DUTY WIPES

TIDDOX supplies highly absorbent and lint-free wipes to the printing industry that are used for print head cleaning, equipment surface wiping and absorbing ink and solvent spills. Presented below is an overview of these printing wipes, ranging from sophisticated products for critical cleaning tasks to traditional printers' T-Shirt rags for general print room cleaning.

Leading the sophisticated products range are the POLYSOFT WIPES. These lint-free wipes are specifically designed for print head cleaning and cleaning other delicate surfaces such as print nozzles, scanner drums and removing ink build up on ink jet print heads on large format printers, as well as most makes and models of digital printing equipment, including UV printers, optical media printers, offset printers and multi-format printers.

POLYSOFT lint-free wipes are made from a strong double knitted polyester material that has laser sealed edges to prevent any loose fibres or particle release. This feature combined with the fact that these printing wipes have a soft, non-abrasive texture, makes them ideal for print head cleaning and wiping critical surfaces, tools and internal chambers as the fabric will not lint or damage sensitive surfaces. Their heavy weight construction makes them highly absorbent of solvents, inks and other cleaning chemicals. Great care is taken to ensure that this product is suitable for critical wiping tasks by ensuring that the fabric is low in particles and extractables through a process of intensive laundering before been double bagged in a cleanroom environment.

The soft, non-abrasive, absorbent fabric of these LINT-FREE CLOTHS also makes them suitable for cleaning lenses, glass surfaces, stainless steel, computer discs, monitors and touchscreens.

Used in conjunction with the POLYSOFT product, are the double headed FOAM SWABS , which are also used in print head cleaning. The foam tips are large and thermally sealed, and the plastic paddles are long enough to reach into recesses and cavities on printing equipment to wipe off debris from heads, nozzles and cylinders.

When dealing with solvents such as ink, oils and lubricants, a popular printing wipe is the SOLVENT RESISTANT WIPE . This product has a dual purpose, in that its course rougher textured side can be used to dislodge debris and grease, whilst its smooth underside can be used on sensitive surfaces. These printing wipes can be used to wipe solvents and have high concentrations of wood pulp making them extremely absorbent. Their polyester component gives them added strength and durability so that they will not fall apart when wiping print ink or cleaning print chemicals. Ideal with sensitive applications where it is important that no lint particles or "fluff" is left behind after wiping, such as on screen, offset, lithographic and flexi printers. Available in packs of 50 sheets (6 packs per carton)

For delicate applications involving cleaning flexographic or photopolymer plates and rollers, we recommend the INDUSTRO WIPES . This is a wood pulp / polyester blended printing wipe that is smooth on both sides, and its prominent features are its size (55cm x 40cm), its absorbency ability, and the fact that it will not leave lint remnants to contaminate surfaces. These heavy duty printing wipes are also tear resistant. The portable carton contains 300 large wipers for controlled usage and cleaning of printing plates. Specifically engineered for use with all types of solvents and inks.

Also very popular with printers looking for lint-free wipes to clean printing plates, ink rollers and trays are the WHITE RHINO ROLLS , which are manufactured from a strong and durable low linting, tear resistant material. Being white in colour, this printing wipe easily shows up any stains or ink. Each 83m roll has 220 perforated sheets (22.5cm x 38cm), 4 rolls per carton.

For heavier duty applications, a heavier cloth is recommended, such as the INDUSTRIAL RHINO CLOTHS , dispensed from a portable pop-up box.

The above product is also produced in a blue colour in a large roll format, called the JUMBO RHINO ROLL , an ideal wiping product for applications using inks, chemicals and solvents. As the name suggests, this is a tough, hard wearing, heavy duty printing wipe made from highly absorbent, tear-resistant material that is able to absorb large spills, including solvents, inks and oils. Packaged with 475 perforated pieces (32cm x 34cm) wrapped on a roll. An essential cleaning consumable in any print room equipped for the more challenging wiping tasks.

An economical, cost effective disposable general purpose product used in most print rooms is a product referred to as "RAG-ON-A-ROLL" , sometimes shortened to "ROAR" . Each roll contains 200 perforated paper sheets, reinforced with nylon scrim, ensuring that it will not fall apart during use, and easily absorbs, oils, inks, grease and other printers chemicals.

For smooth buffing and polishing, the MICROMAX is a non-abrasive, soft textured printing wipe, that is lint-free and very absorbent.

The TIDDOX MELTBLOWN POLYPROPOLYNE WIPES are widely used in the printing industry for preparation and degreasing of surfaces. Very strong and popular for general cleaning duties in a printing environment. This heavy duty material is a fast absorber of inks, solvents, oils and chemicals, and it is also tear-proof, solvent-resistant and anti-static. Available in packets of 50 sheets (12 packs per carton) or in a perforated jumbo roll.

For removing grease, oil, ink and adhesives from printers hands and from printing equipment, rollers, trays and plates, TIDDOX supplies its INDUSTRIAL WET WIPES . Each portable canister contains 70 pull out perforated pieces. These orange scented, pre-moistened convenient and disposable sheets have a textured and smooth side and are a quick and easy way to clean hands and equipment in a print room.

In addition to the engineered printing wipes described above, TIDDOX also supplies printers nationwide with WHITE T-SHIRT RAGS and RECYCLED COLOURED T-SHIRT RAGS in 5kg, 10kg and 20 kg bags which are the most popular printing cloths. Bags of rags have long been used as a general purpose clean up material in press and printing environments, however they do have the issue that they carry lint residue from the cotton.

An alternative from white rags are the OMNIWIPE , which is a white spunlace cloth made of 90% viscose making it incredibly absorbent and the white colour shows up inks and direct effectively. As they come in smaller, convenient packs, at a lower cost per wipe, many printers prefer this product to white rags as they are easier to store and transport, and have greater absorbency.
